About: Introduction
Dr. Nur Zaimah Jamil is an Assistant Professor at UKM-Qatar’s Centre of Foundation and Preparatory Studies, specializing in English language education, assessment, and academic communication. Her academic and research interests include English language teaching, speaking assessment, classroom-based assessment, and innovative approaches to language learning.
She completed her PhD at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2025, with doctoral research focusing on English teachers’ knowledge, beliefs, and practices in speaking assessment within the secondary school context. Her research has contributed to areas such as speaking assessment literacy, professional development needs among English language teachers, problem-based learning, and innovative approaches to developing students’ communication skills.
As an educator and researcher, Dr. Nur Zaimah is particularly committed to supporting non-native English learners and strengthening students’ academic and communication skills through practical, learner-focused teaching and assessment approaches.
