About: Introduction
Dr. Shereena Binti Mohd Arif is Head of Department and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FTSM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Qatar Campus, in Doha. With over two decades of academic experience spanning Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, she holds a PhD in Information Science from the University of Sheffield, a Master's in Computer Science (Multimedia) from Universiti Malaya, and a Bachelor of Information Technology from Universiti Utara Malaysia.
Her research covers Information Retrieval, Information Visualization, Social Networking, Multimedia Retrieval, and Chemoinformatics, with 16 journal articles, 2 book chapters, and multiple conference papers to her name, including work published in the Journal of Chemical Information and Modelling and Expert Systems with Applications. She has supervised 3 PhD and 6 Master's students to completion, and previously headed the female section of the Information Systems Department at King Abdul Aziz University's Rabigh campus in Saudi Arabia. A recipient of UKM's Excellent Teacher Award (2013) and Excellent Service Award (2007), she has also served as an exam assessor for Malaysia's Foundation/Matriculation Programme and as a panel member for the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). Dr. Shereena is committed to advancing information science education and research across the institutions and countries she has served.
